McDonald has launched a cheeseburger campaign to raise 1 million pesos for the benefit of the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) and its banner program the Bright Minds Read (BMR). Through this campaign, McDonald and RMHC will be donating 100 BMR toolkits to 100 public elementary schools. For every McDonald Cheeseburger purchased, one peso is automatically donated to RMHC. The Department of Education will be participating in the turn-over.
RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES (RMHC) was established to improve children’s lives through programs that addresses their need for shelter, education, and happiness. Its banner program which focuses on essential aspects of a child’s development is the BRIGHT MINDS READ (BMR), that aims to teach reading, comprehension, and critical thinking skills to students who are mostly first time readers. It creates educational materials specially designed to make beginning reading more fun and much easier. It also provides training for teachers so their lessons are easy to understand and apply. With your support, RMHC will be able to brighten the future of more children as it expands its programs to areas that need the most help and attention.
Other initiatives of RMHC are the:
"Bahay Bulilit", where children are offered something others never get: a safe, enriching place where they can test their wings so that someday, their dreams can take flight. It builds day care centers in depressed areas so that low-income families can avail of the benefits of a typical day care without the expensive cost.
"Your Change can Change Lives", where in everyone can help by donating their change in the canisters found besides counters of all McDonalds stores.
"Bigay Tulong", which serves as a venue for accepting public donations of goods and cash for natural calamity victims.
