KFC Philippines supports World Food Programe thought "Buckets of Love"

KFC Philippines and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) strengthens its longtime partnership through a campaign that seeks to raise awareness and generated funds for ate disaster afflicted areas in the country.  KFC Philippines has been WFP’s partner since 2007, in line with the Yum! Brands’ World Hunger Relief campaign – the world’s largest hunger relief effort in the private sector that spans over 120 countries.

This year, with the “Buckets of Love”, KFC has pledged to donate to WFP Php5.00 from every 8-piece bucket meal, and Php 1.00 from every 1-piece Crispy Butter Chicken sold from November.
2013 to January 2014. . Proceeds will be used to support WFP’s efforts in rebuilding communities affected by Typhoon Yolanda, while still assisting WFP’s existing school feeding programs in conflict-affected areas in Central Mindanao. Customers may also share their blessings through coin canisters found in KFC counters.

Last year, KFC Philippines’ donation to WFP provided over 750,000 school meals to more than 100,000 school children in the provinces of Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Lanao del Norte, and Lanao del Sur.

“Beyond the so good experiences that we provide our loyal fans through innovative products and one-of-a-kind opportunities, we also make it a point to pay it forward by extending assistance to communities that need our support,” said Liza Leah Calma – Junio, General Manager for KFC Philippines. “KFC is a company that values sharing and likewise Filipinos are people who love giving. ‘Buckets of Love’ gives them the channel to share what they have with those who need it most.”

KFC’s ‘Buckets of Love’ efforts will run from November 2013 to January 2014. Those who will not be purchasing meals can still help out through the campaign’s canister initiative, encouraging people to share their spare change to help give hope to conflict- and disaster-affected communities in the Philippines.

Meaningful Innovations from Philips

Philips initiated the ‘Meaningful Innovation’ program in Indonesia, Korea, Thailand and Singapore in 2011. Through the program Philips underpins its commitment to define and deliver meaningful innovations to improve the quality of lives of people in Asia Pacific. This year the program was rolled out across Asia Pacific, including the Philippines earlier this year.

Over the past month, the Philippines was hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan). From the destruction of basic infrastructures now pegged at P13.1 billion, health concerns, and access to healthcare, typhoon Yolanda has had an immense impact on 9.9 million people living in the Visayas region.

To continue with this program which aims at helping affected communities in the Visayas, Filipinos are given the opportunity to directly help fellow Filipinos through meaningful innovations.   At Philips, it’s not just innovation, they innovate for your sake. They listen and understand the needs of people, families, and communities. Through meaningful partnerships, this program ultimately rallies a movement to improve the quality of lives of affected Filipinos – it is every Filipino’s program.”

In response, Philips has decided to continue the ‘Meaningful Innovation’ program in the Philippines by refocusing the program fully on defining and delivering meaningful innovations to the affected communities in the Visayas. The outcome will now result in a project that aims to improve the quality of life of people living in the Visayas region by supporting infrastructure to be re-built, providing access to healthcare solution, or helping families get back on their feet. Philips will partner closely with the Department of Health (DOH), World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines (WWF-Philippines), and I Can Serve Foundation in the program moving forward.

Filipinos are invited to submit their ideas for innovations that would address the needs of the affected communities by Typhoon Yolanda at meaningfulinnovation.asia/Philippines.com. Again, this could be through a supporting infrastructure to be re-built, providing access to healthcare solution, or helping families get back on their feet.
Deadline of submission of entries is until December 20, 2013.
